Buying Behaviour of Forklifts has Changed Dramatically
A national survey has recently revealed that when it comes to the acquisition of Forklift trucks, many firms are now taking a long-term approach, including their views on operating costs.
Many business owners are now switched on to a long-term approach and rather than focusing on the upfront cost of the machinery, they are looking at the total cost of ownership over a longer period. Businesses understand that it can pay to invest in new and reliable machinery and in the long term actually reduce outgoings for businesses.
In a recent survey, it has been revealed that 66% of businesses are now using electric-powered ride vehicles, 58% relying on electric-powered pallet trucks and 49% using electric-powered narrow isle trucks.
Almost 30% are using between 3 and 9 forklifts, 16% have 10 to 14 forklifts and 18% use between 15 and 24 in the workplace.
Over the next 12 months, of the companies surveyed 69% are expecting to add forklifts to their fleet over the next 12 to 24 months. Over half are expected to purchase between 2 and 4 vehicles, 17% are expected to buy between 5 and 9 and just over 10% expect to purchase just 1.
Overall, the expectations for the industry are really positive and are expected to grow over the next year. With this in mind, there is no better time to ensure that you’re up to date with forklift training and that all your staff are qualified to operate the vehicles.
