From the 1st February 2016, new guidelines enforcing tougher sentencing for companies that breach Health & Safety laws came into force.
The new guidelines set out procedures that take into consideration the degree of harm caused, the accountability of the offender as well as the turnover of the company in question.
The new changes are intended to ensure that large companies pay larger fines. The penalties for any breaches have been brought into line with those penalties associated with economic crimes such as competition law breaches.
With these new changes now in force, it’s more important than ever that all employees who drive Forklift Trucks have their operating skills up to date and that refresher training is done when required. It’s equally important that all pre-shift checks are carried out to further reduce the chances of any incidents in the workplace.
Forklift Agency offer Health & Safety recognised training nationwide, so if you’re an employer and need to put employees through either novice or refresher courses, there’s never been a better time to get enrolled. Complete the contact form below and we will be in touch as soon as we can.
