Pedestrian Operated Pallet Trucks

Pedestrian Operated Pallet Trucks

Probably not the first truck that springs to mind when you think ‘forklift’ but the Pedestrian Operated Pallet Truck is part of the Forklift family. It has been in existence since 1918.

A Pedestrian Operated Pallet Truck is also known as a pallet jack, pallet pump, pump truck, dog, or jigger and is a tool used to lift and move pallets. These are the most basic form of forklift and are intended to move pallets within a warehouse whether they are heavy or light.

The Pedestrian Operated Pallet Truck is steered by a lever that also acts as the pump handle when lifting pallets. There are small wheels on the end of the forks and a wheel at the back of the truck, which makes moving pallets around a warehouse much easier. These trucks are often found being used in the trailer of large haulage vehicles; these pallet trucks make moving pallets for deliveries manageable as well as making the operation much quicker.

A Pedestrian Operated Pallet Truck training course typically lasts for just one day and aims to give the learner all the necessary knowledge to safely operate Pedestrian Operated Pallet Trucks. The course will be completely in line with the specific manufacturers’ instructions and industry accepted good practice.
