It has recently been announced by the British Industrial Truck Association (BITA) that despite expectations of a slowing in GDP throughout 2018, the materials handling sector has evidenced that it bucked the trend and enjoyed a positive finish at the end of last year.
When those involved in the supply of components and services to the forklift truck industry reported that volumes of forklifts sold throughout last year actually rose by 2.5% to over 35,000 units.
When the report has been released it showed that the biggest rate of growth, at 7%, was that of the powered pallet truck which is thought to be as a result of the growth in courier and delivery services in the country. There was also a large increase (5.5%) in the diesel counterbalance trucks followed by the petrol engine counterbalance trucks and electric counterbalance trucks (3.4%).
There’s been a big increase over the past ten years throughout the forklift market and this is expected to continue to rise over the coming years. With this in mind there has never been a better time for either a change of career or to relish in the opportunities the forklift industry has on offer.
