It goes without saying that forklifts play a crucial part in everyday lives and also to the smooth operation of many businesses all over the world.

Another key to a successful business is ensuring that the right staff a working for you and for those that are, that they are trained up to the highest standard.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation 1998 in Regulation 9 states that ‘every employer shall ensure that all persons who use work equipment have received adequate training for the purpose of health and safety, including training in the methods which may be adopted when using the work equipment, any risks which such use may entail and precautions to be taken”. With this in mind, we cannot stress enough how important it is to make sure that all staff have the right training and are kept up to date with changes.

Any employees should be provided with adequate training on all types of forklifts and associated attachments that they may be required to work with whilst carrying out their work duties, this adheres with the Code of Practice and Guidance (ACOP).

Employers should ensure that the training given is tailored to each individuals’ requirements to carry out their job. Employers should also be mindful that when it comes to forklift operator training, there is no ‘one size fits all’ and additional training should be given when new requirements are required from the operative for their role. Should the weight/lift capacity change for a forklift and the operator is not used to the load size, adequate training should be provided to ensure safe handling.

With this is mind, Forklift agency are able to offer training from novice to refresher training at a time and place to suit employers’ needs. The forklift trainers are friendly, yet professional as well as highly experienced offering everything from forklift counterbalance, reach, telehandler and more. The forklift training is health and safety approved and Forklift Agency don’t charge travelling costs.
